Katniss

Yes, Katniss and I have been a team one full year.  A year ago yesterday, as I baked pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving, I saw her running back and forth across my stonewall and deck.  Her tiny white paws made her so visible against the lightly frosted surfaces and while on the phone with my daughter, we agreed that I had to catch the feral kitten. I remember thinking I have to catch her.  She'll either freeze to death or be eaten.

Trapping her in the soft-sided, blue kitty carrier that I bought at Walmart along with the litter box, liter, and kitten pate, she screamed and hissed bloody murder once trapped.  It was hard to believe that something so tiny (2.1 lbs at her first Vet visit on Day 3) could be so fierce.  Starving and riddled with worms and bacteria for months, I doubt she would have survived.  After all, she was the only one in the litter of five born in an abandoned rabbit hole located in my neighbors raspberry patch that made it.

She is adorable. I didn't realize you captured her as a feral kitten out in your yard. It's good that you rescued her. And I'm assuming showing her love and affection cured her of her feral ways. I just posted a few photos of my cat yesterday.

So glad you rescued her. Since this time, last year, I have two new cats myself :)

Happy anniversary to you both, JP. Glad you made the rescue and that it's worked out so well. She takes a lovely photo.

I am pleased I found your blog. That little kitten is adorable. It is not easy to tame a feral kitten. My daughter had found one in Atlanta just before she moved to Pittsburgh and she had a really hard time to place it in a carrier for the flight there. But now it is a beautiful loving cat.

She may not have appreciated it at the time but I'm betting she's happy to have a great home with you now.

JP, I remember when you posted about her last year. She has blossomed and I am sure she is grateful to have found you. Thanks for sharing. Sylvia D.
