Bird Bomb

Trying to become familiar with my new tripod, I set it up on the deck and decided I was going to get a good photo of a bird in flight.  That was my goal.  That was my plan.  After quite some time, an Eastern Bluebird showed up which now became my subject.

I waited...

and then...this is what I got...a wingless bird bomb...LOL!

Oh and me?  I packed up the camera and tripod and decided that perhaps birds in flight should remain on my bucket list.

I can't help but laugh. Not at YOU, but laughing 'cause I've been there so many times. Yet, so beautiful is your subject!! And all photos are terrific. Even the wingless bomb.

Thanks for sharing with us at IRBB tbis week. Hoping your birding days are happy ones.

Getting pictures of birds in flight is a real trick. I'd think you'd have better luck without the tripod.

Your post was hilarious to read. And that wingless bird bomb looks like it was made in Photoshop (or GIMP) but I know it wasn't. That's called Murphy's Law: you finally snap the in flight photo, and you capture the moment when the wings are in tight against the body. It is a beautiful bird, though. (I got my first photos of some in a cemetery of all places, back in the Fall of 2018. I was there to get "scary" gravestone photos, and the birds were there eating berries on plants.)

Good luck with capturing a bird in flight! In the meantime, I enjoyed the bird shots you got.
My post features a hike at Mount Rainier Natl Park.

Haha cheeky bird. Maybe it knew it was being watched. Lovely clicks nonetheless.

Bird photography is always like that, especially inflight pic.
