I Can Only Wish

Yes, it's January.  Yes, the Pres, Katniss and I are doing fine.  Yes, January 10th is:

And YES, the Midwinter Eagle Survey is rapidly approaching.   And double yes, that I've been out on preliminary searches to inspect the territories assigned to me and look for them.  And YES, I've found a few, along with a lot of good signs for a good year!

Arriving at our predetermined, designated locations at 6:45 AM for a prompt start at 7:00 AM, hundreds of volunteers will brave the cold this weekend.  The goal is simple...collect data on Bald Eagles.   Times, locations, behaviors, adults, juveniles, approximate ages, along with weather conditions will be recorded and compiled for the database.  And yes, I am prepared to fill in as Team Leader.

However, I was not prepared for this when it arrived:

When I opened it, I cried.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to my friends...:)  You KNOW me well.

just seeing, saying, and sharing...

  4. JP, when I read about eagles on your blog, I truly long to see one up close and in person...and this makes me think I soon will one day. You are a wonderful person to be helping with our beautiful birds.
    Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
p.s. Keeping all of you in my prayers. Give the Pres a hug.

  5. I so love seeing eagles...years ago when I first moved here from to Indiana from Tennessee, I had never seen a live eagle. And never heard of anyone here seeing any around. Now I see them fairly often. And any day we see an eagle, we call it a great day!

  6. Excellent. I hope I luck out and get some eagle pictures. A few have been seen not too far from here.

  7. We had a Wedge-tailed Eagle flying over the go-kart track I took the kids to last weekend - it's a huge bird!

    cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
