A Purposeful Walk

Sipping my coffee that morning, I wondered how it would go.  Then before I knew it, it was time to head to my "C & S's" place.  You see, it was at their house that everyone had agreed to meet.  Right before I got in the car, I warmed the loaf of zucchini bread and wrapped it tightly in saran wrap, placing it on the dashboard near the heat vent.

Once everyone had arrived, "D & P" showed us a map of the surrounding property that he had made, showing us property lines of everyone involved.  Heading out for our excursion, "B, B, & D" led the way while "C, P " & I brought up the rear.

Walking though the woods to get to the other side of the 35 acre pond wasn't bad and although we had to cross several small streams, we all managed to make it unscathed.

We were hiking to the base of the Eagles nest so that "B" (CT DEEP/Div of Wildlife) would be able to assess location and safety of the tree.  It is being considered as a 2019 banding site IF the pair returns and mates successfully.

Once we got to the base of the tree, using the range finder, I was able to determine the approximate height of the nest. "Not bad" I said out loud..."36 yds....that's only 108'," looking directly at "B", who will do the climbing.  While he was pleased with the condition of the tree, as well as the location for access by the team of volunteers, he did say that that is much higher than the trees he's climbed in the past.  Keep your fingers crossed...:)

LOL JP, I have climbed a lot of trees in my youth...but none that high. Wow. Hope it all was a wonderful time for your group. Thank you for your dedication. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
