Clear, Present Danger

A long hot, very humid Summer for us this year.  Believe it or not, the excessive humidity prevented me from kayaking.  Then the rain came.  That too, was another deterrent.  In fact, in our area officials said we got 7 inches of rain just the other day, making many local rivers too dangerous for kayaks.  We got more last night and more is predicted for tonight.

Now you know and I know, there is always ONE.  And there was.  However it was NOT me.  There were two kayakers that had to be rescued when their vessels overturned in the raging river yesterday.

Unlike my resident "dingbat" turkey wondering how to get out of my yard, as I listen to the antics of others, I am thankful for my logic and my brain telling me not to kayak when water and river conditions indicate potential danger.

JP, It is sad that grown people can not think rationally at times. Our last big flooding rains had kayakers die from going in the flooded waters. Sad and preventable. I will almost bet you won't see that dang turkey as it gets closer to Thanksgiving. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Sad to read of this happening, but it sounds like things that happen around here, too. Thanks for linking up today and have a great weekend.

Nice turkey pictures! Yes, a few months ago someone went out in the flooded Shenandoah and did not make it back.

There some people that think they can handle the dangerous conditions. They put themselves and others that have to rescue them in danger. Cute turkey photos. Have a happy day and weekend!

My personal theory is that logic and common sense have been pretty much bred out of people... we knew better when we were 6 years old ... what's happening? ...
