Frozen Memories

Seeing more Ice Fishermen this year than I ever have in the past few years, I wondered if I would enjoy it.  That thought lasted about 90 seconds before I recalled...

walking to the small skating pond about 1 1/2 miles from our house, putting on my red (yes red to match the lining of my mostly white rabbit fur jacket) figure skates and taking to the ice.  Feeling like Dorothy Hamill, I skated faster and faster and while gliding along hit a small bump in the ice and fell.  Cradling my broken arm with the other as I walked home, I knew I would be in trouble.

just seeing, saying, and sharing...

  5. Your photo looks very peaceful. Aren’t children’s imagination fantastic? It must have felt amazing believing you were a famous skater!

  6. But before that final moment it must have felt exhilarating. - Margy

  7. Excellent shot! I avoid ice at all costs after falling and being knocked unconscious a few years ago. :-o

  9. You have brought back memories of family hockey tournaments on the pond at the end of our street ... I never had a chance to pretend to be Dorothy Hamill - I was protecting myself from body slams! I wonder how many kids these days get to do something so fun and unregulated?
