However, it was a short lived moment of relaxation as I saw an interesting bird land in one of the trees behind the feeders. Standing a few feet away from the glass, I watched as the other birds darted to and from the feeders. The visitor kept it's distance the entire time I took pix.
Last year, around this time, the Flicker showed up and visited for a while too. It must be passing through, although I would love it if it decided to make "A Quiet Corner" home.
just seeing, saying, and sharing...

Flickers are so regal. They look like royalty. I hope he decides to stick around for more photo ops. Happy Holidays!
sweet visitor, i was shocked to NOT see an Eagle . ha ha...
A Yellow-shafted Flicker! (aka Northern Flicker) Beautiful bird!
I saw a couple of them here in north Mississippi one day recently, but have not seen them since.
Merry Christmas!
Put some suet out...that may entice it to stay.
Hello, the Flicker is a great bird to have a visitor. I see them once in a while in my yard. They have lovely markings and colors.
Thanks always for your visits and comments this past year. Have a happy day and week ahead. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
What a lovely looking visitor too!
Happy Christmas Wishes to you and yours.
All the best Jan
I've never seen one other than in pictures
So glad you had this stylish visitor. We usually see two at a time (a pair?) and they are feeding on the ground, unlike other types of woodpeckers. Merry Christmas to you!
