The Things We Do For Love

Hon, you've got to come see this.  A flipping squirrel is destroying my chair!, I exclaimed standing near the slider.

Grumble, grumble, alright, I'm coming, said the Pres unenthusiastically.

Honey, I swear to goodness, it's shoving the wood in it's mouth!

And finally when the Pres got up to see what was going on, standing next to me, he said, "Look at it.  It's making a big ball out of all the strips.  What the heck is it doing?"

Now you know how I feel about my chair.  And yes, it's far from perfect, but, as painful as it was, I continued to watch while the Pres returned to his comfy chair and remote.

It would (or should I say WOOD) jump onto the chair, grab hold and literally rip strips off.

Then it would sit on it's haunches and wind up all the long strips almost like a ball...

before SHE'D disappear into the ferns along the fence.

Yep, I think she is "you know what."

just seeing, saying and sharing...

with you and those at

(because there really is a fence behind the story...:)

  1. Wow, that is strange. It is using the wood strips for a nest? I like the chair, it is pretty. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!

  2. The squirrel's antics are fascinating. Everything she needs at her disposal in one chair. If this continues, eventually the Pres won't need to move the chair before mowing ;)

  3. Oh dear your poor chair.
She has a very cute face though and she's brilliant at recyling!!
    Have a wonderful weekend :)

  4. Fantastic photos. So few are privileged to witness this. I am so glad you captured it for all to see.

  5. she needed a chair, or at least part of a chair for her new home for her babies. i must say this is a first seeing one strip wood...

  6. Awe, she's stripping the bark for her nest! I didn't know they did that,

  7. Smiling here to your lines ... "Returned to his comfy chair and remote" - Men! :-)
Your chair qualifies to nest building - now it is proofed and documented!

  8. How great you let the squirrel get what she needed. To bad it was your favorite chair, but hopefully it is still OK.

  9. Looks like it's nest building time. How fun to watch that

  10. Cute shots and a lovely chair!

  11. Sorry about your favorite chair, JP, but funny to now what use those strips are going to...maybe the family will come and visit, but then maybe it's best they don't!

  12. That's so cute. I'd just let her have the chair. You can always get another one.
