A Little Too Nutty

Digging out the rustic looking plant hanger from the utility room in December, I thought it would make such a cute suet feeder for the perching birds.  Then, like every good nature lover, I took chunks of the homemade suet, jammed and crammed it into each of the three small clay pots and proudly hung it on the tree.  Then I watched and waited...and waited...and waited.

Never saw one blooming feathered friend there.
Only the local nuts!

Saturday Critters

Oh, one more thing.  Last night, as I looked out the dining room slider into the woods, I watched one of the adult Eagles sail overhead.  Spring is in the air!

  1. ha! oh those squirrels!

i picked up a 'bird seed bell' and hung it in a tree. the birds didn't even have a chance! a squirrel got to it first & was too heavy on the bell...and tore it right off the center stick...plop...the bell fell to the ground & the squirrels have been munching away!!

  2. I love that shot! They are clever little rodents. They have chewed a hole in the birdfeeder my son made for me.. so that they can get INSIDE it.

  9. I've not seen a squirrel all winter--Maybe because I don't have any "suet feeder" like yours! :-)
