On the way to the lake, I pass this place.
Goats, one lone cow within the confines of some fencing in back of the old stonewall and along the gravel drive leading up to the house.
Initially what caught my eye was the pile of balls.
Anybody have an idea what purpose they would serve?
Yep. Secure farm fence for goats, one lone cow and balls...LOL!

Love this scene possibly there is a game of lawn bowling going on late at night when no one can see by the lone cow and the goats:) Hug B
Toys for the goats to play with maybe?
I guess you are just going to have to drop in and ask. Now we all want to know.
I second Delores's suggestion. A pile of balls is unusual to see in with animals.
I too am thinking goat toys!
Brilliant name for the shelter and lovely pictures.
interesting! :)
The pile of balls is a mystery unless they are something that the goats play with. LOL The whole scene is beautiful though with the colourful trees, stone wall and the critters.
An interesting looking place, not sure about the balls.
A mystery! Maybe they are for playing Bocce, or Croquet? And they put them in a pretty way when they are not using them..
Interesting... They look like cannon balls, but I've no idea why they'd be there either -- Maybe they found them on their property? Maybe it's for shock put?
What a cool place, looks like a happy farm.. Maybe the balls are toys for the goats.. I would love have a small farm with critters.. Great shot, enjoy your evening..
Those balls look so sculptural. I love the name of the place!
What more does a place need besides a fence, goats, one lone cow and balls :)
Love this and the whole thing just made me smile
Love that rock fence.
Object of art or toys for goats...we will never know.
Aren't goats a lot like dogs? I think I heard that once. I remember when my aunt had one and it came in the house just like the dog. I think the goats probably play with the balls. You would think one or two would be enough...
I like seeing the fall foliage in the background. Some of us don't have that where we live. :(
Hmmmmm... Mystery balls..
Oh my! You don't know? Back in ancient times, Rome had half time entertainment before the gladiators fought. Prize goats were brought out by the IIIV H Club and they proceeded to play a game with the balls, very much like our popular game, Bocce.
Of course, now, goats are mainly raised for their cuteness in petting zoo's and the rather out of vogue use of goat cheese in gourmet cuisine. Also, it is very popular for young couples trying to establish farm-like homes on 1/8 acres in semi-rural/urban areas to have goats, as well as fancy chickens with designer coops and more eggs than they could consume in 5.6 years.
Just my thoughts.

maybe it was a playground before a cow pasture. neat find.
I love the stone wall and the name of the shelter - and, of course, the animals.
