This doe has been coming around the Hollow for a long time.  She's a regular.  As you can see she has truly unique markings on her face.  This year, she's decided to introduce us to one of her young ones.  It seems that the bucks are far more skiddish than the does.  This time, I went in the house, got the camera and walked right up to the fence as I continued to play Kong with Copper.  They were so distracted by us playing that snapping a few pictures was a non event.

Happy, happy dog!

Mom, can you get that for me?

P.S.  Bringing this over to Nancy's today...come join her!
A Rural Journal

  1. They are so aware of their surroundings, so tense.

  2. beautiful capture of mom & her young one!
i think the bucks prefer to stay in the background...unnoticed...and be there to protect his needed.

  3. I never get tired of seeing the deer and their fawns are always a treat to see too!!

Had to grin about the Kong--Some pups are just not problem solvers, are they? :-)

  4. oh no, Copper, I do hope the deer did not run away with your kong. you look so darn cute looking through the fence. the deer are so pretty, hope you have them at your new home

  5. that's amazing that they (and copper) didn't even care about one another being there! guess she really is a regular! :)

  6. Copper is a good dogs know if they bark at the wildlife, playtime is over.
They still lose a lot of playtime ;)

  7. She's a beauty, and her baby is too. And, Copper, what a sad face, with your kong on the other side of the fence.

  8. What a lovely photo of the deers...poor Copper lost the Kong on the other side of the fence...

How much longer will you be living there? All I can remember is thinking: "Oh, no...she's actually going to sell that dreamy place?"

  9. Great shot of the two of them :) How wonderful they are so comfortable with you. The ones in my yard are very skittish, but I quietly capture them sometimes. Thanks for visiting and leaving such a kind comment ♥

  10. Love the photo of Copper at the end -- so cute! And thanks so much for sharing at YSB this week, JP. I love seeing you there! :)

  11. There is nothing worse then having the prize just beyond your reach!

  12. I love look at the deer and their babies. I just wish they would leave our garden alone. I think I've made up my mind that this is the last year I waste my time on a garden to get nothing out of it! lol
The deer in my yard are fearless! They chase my dogs!

    Have a Great Week!

  13. What a lovely visitor. I too was lucky to see a mom and baby a couple of days ago. They really are pretty creatures.
