Red Bird...Red Bird

I apologize for the blurry picture but this guy was so far away and my camera is only a 10 zoom.  Since I obviously haven't learned to perfect the pixel distortion and cropping, this is the result.  Regardless, isn't he handsome?

He was so vibrant sitting there in the thicket, gleaming like a ball of hot fire, this "red bird".  It reminded me of my youngest grand daughter.  Yes, a story...

You see, when Mia was only a few months old, I had the opportunity to watch her until she was old enough to attend day care.

Carrying her around on my shoulder, I would sing to her.  Oh yes, sometimes it was a well known Nursery Rhyme taken from the depths of my mind.  Other times, I would simply make one up as we swayed to and fro.  Her favorite became "Red Bird" as each time I sang it, she would smile and light up like a little Christmas tree.

I still sing it to her when I see her and her reaction is the same, which makes my heart grow even more.

  1. That is something that she will remembeer all her life...and maybe she will sing red bird to her little ones and pass the tradition on.

  2. Lovely story.

It is interesting that cardinals like this so so common in my yard - I can have 10 or so at my feeder alone. On rare occasion I will see a Blue Jay - another striking bird for size and brillance of color.

My sister who lives about 75 minutes away, she rarely sees a cardinal, but must have a flock of Blue Jays when she puts out a feeder. She says she have blue all over her yard.

  11. That is a very precious and touching story. I always love spotting birds that stick out in the trees. Something about them versus the greenery is absolutely breathtaking.

  12. Oh what a sweet story about your baby girl JP! I'm glad you seen that pretty red bird. I seen one the other day about 2 miles from my house. I was so excited! You don't see that kind of red bird that often around here!

    Have a Great Day!
