Magical Coming and Going

Taken a few weeks ago (January 9th to be exact), we had snow.  Preoccupied with watching the birds the following day make their way in and out of the brush piles, I suddenly remembered their water source.

Thinking about how lucky we the birds are to have an old well on the property, I bundled up to head outside that late afternoon.

I just wanted to ensure that the grate was open and accessible for the little ones.  Over the years, a few vines have grown on the inside walls providing perfect perches for the regulars.

Interesting how Mother Nature works her magic, taking care of her own.

Isn't that great? (grate/great)-get it? Nevermind! Nature does have a way of taking care of its own, doesn't it? xo Diana

Mother Nature can be both cruel and kind.....thankfully in this case she has offered a kindness.

JP, So nice you checked to see if they had water access. I have noticed our feeders are not being eaten on so much...there's some hawks around and I fear our birds will not be as plentiful as they used to be. I miss them too. That is part of our joy in winter watching birds come to the feeders. Blessings, stay warm, xoxo, Susie

How wonderful to read this post! I so enjoyed knowing how you take care of your yard birds. And your photos of them during a winter's day....awesome.

Thank you so much for taking time to add your link for all us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' this week. It's greatly appreciated.
