Mounds of Moss

Last week, I walked as part of the team assigned to this location along the river.

Not far from home, I was surprised to find that the river was, in fact, partially frozen above the dam.

Winter had begun to set in...finally.

However, by the time we walked back on the tracks, some of the huge ice formation had broken thanks to the sun.

My favorite find (other than the Eagles) were the mounds of moss.
I love moss.
Can you see the ever so slight shadows created by the mid-morning light?

The ice waterfall is very pretty. I love moss, too, and it seems greenest at this time of year when everything else tends to brown tones.
Have a great week.

There is a real sense of dramatic beautiful in these frozen formations and I can see the shadows that you mentioned in the mossy area. All that and eagles too? It sounds like a wonderful place!
