Their View

Although some of the "pros" told me that the behavior of the Eagles was not good, I just couldn't give up on them.  Even the day I told my daughter that they thought the nest had failed, I held on to that glimmer of hope...like a mother does.  It was all because of their behavior.

I will also admit that it has been an emotional roller coaster for me watching Mother Nature present the Eagles with all their challenges beginning with the rough Winter, the invasion of the two immatures, the huge Barred Owl and the pesky and relentless flock of Crows, let alone the local Red-Tails and yard-work done near their nest.  Yet, they prevailed.  They hung in there...devoted and regal...like a mother does.

So, after some recent due diligence and astute observation, I am happy to announce that there is at least one chick in the nest.  Sitting in the woods the other day for about a half hour, I watched one adult soaring high over the nesting area and then I watched as the other adult (most likely the female because of it's size), exit the right side of the nest and take flight at a much lower altitude.

The following day, repeating my behavior, I observed food being brought to the nest by an adult as it flew low over the tree-line and into the nesting area.

You know what you need? A drone. That way you could get a good view of the nest from above.
