Black Friday Is For The Birds

Typically, the Pres and I do not shop on Black Friday.  We did one year when we lived in Virginia and nearly got trampled so we decided back then that the deals really were not worth risking our lives...LOL!

However, this year, the morning after Thanksgiving when the Pres' alarm went off and I heard him getting dressed, I wondered why he was moving so early.  "Hon, what are you doing up so early?"

Taking another sip of my AM brew I nearly choked when he said, "I'm going out shopping.  Do you want to come?"

Still in my PJs, I said, "As a matter of fact, I do.  I saw something in the paper that I want to get.  Will you take me to Sears while we're out?"  Well you know the answer.  What man doesn't want to go to Sears?

Off we went.

And it truly was for the birds.

Well, the first half of our trip was anyway.

Arriving at our local Tractor Supply by 6:30am was evidently the smart thing to do.  I was later told that the crowd in there was insane with people pushing to get the deals!

We walked out with four cases of peanut suet and four forty pound bags of black oiled sunflower seed!!

Merry Christmas my little feathered friends.  HO! HO! HO!

Oh, one more thing.
I got you know who something that he really needed at Sears.
Shhhhhhh....

i have only shopped once on BF and that was the last time. and it was at Sears, my granddaughter wanted a necklace that was on sale at the jeweler counter. the pushing and shoving and lines, drove me out the door and back home with nothing. of course one reason i did not do it was the fact i always had to work on BF... now i am retired and don't buy or shop... but your birds are the better for it and they are beautiful

You were brave, no question!! But your birds will thank-you in the months (weeks?) ahead when the cold comes and food is scarce, so it's worth it.

Nice shots - and a nice story!

I don't think my winters are cold enough to get the same number of garden birds as you seem to get. Shame really.

Awww, are these house finches or purple ones? We have one of these stores and I have never been in it. I had no idea they have bird seed! I will go and take a look.

I have never shopped on Black Friday. I'm usually working any way but I've never had the desire to go out and fight crowds.
The birds sure seem to be enjoying their gift

I was perhaps not at the popular stores but got some good buys and some sunflower seeds as well without fighting crowds. The finches and especially the woodpecker are so cute. Beautiful colors.

You gave the birds a gift and they will give you one when you are sitting watching their happy little selves enjoying those feeders.
