The Straight Arrow

Sharing with you and those at

Saturday Critters

7-11-14:  No chick in sight.  I have discovered that certain times of the day find the chick in the nest...eating or resting I surmise.

Then a few hours later when I return, I find him branching.

And growing rapidly (7-15-14).  So, I guess it hasn't yet fledged.

I even caught it preening.

Did you notice the stick that resembles an arrow?

It almost always points directly at the chick!

The stick really DOES look like an arrow!

Amazing to call something that size a "chick" isn't it?

oh wow, how cool is that stick. Is it there for the eagle to know where to pose for the camera or for the photographer to know where to aim the camera? :)

That is funny about the arrow! I can see it plainly. I am glad he is still alright!

Of course you don't need a pointer with such a large chick, but still, it's great to see how it does point right at it. Great pictures.

Mother Nature's way of making sure you find the chick to keep track of it?

"Chick" makes me think about something a little smaller.

So sweet! Well, I know I disappeared right after we "met." We went on vacation for two weeks, and just returned yesterday. I won't have many bird posts but I will be posting a lot in the weeks to come about our awesome trip! Hope all is well with you.
