Going, Going...Gone

"Do you think it's over," whispered the Red-Bellied woodpecker to the little Downy tapping the nearby tree?

"It just might be," said Nutty (Bubba's distant cousin), scaling the ladder left out by the old woman.

"I heard those hens talking near the edge of the woods the other day and they think the old woman is losing it,"the Junco said, swallowing her seed.

Meanwhile behind the fence, the hens continued to gossip.
"You know what I saw?" said the oldest of the flock.

"Oh, tell us. Tell us, please!" said one of the other hens trying to keep up.
"Please, tell us what you saw."

"Well", she said with a huff as she unruffled her feathers, "the other morning, while we were making our way along the edge of the trail, we saw the old woman and she was dancing!  Yep, DANCING!!  She was doing the HAPPY DANCE because the last storm missed us!

Honestly, she was making such a spectacle of herself moving side to side down the trail to the clearing.  It was as if she thought that no one was watching!!  The poor thing, she thinks that Spring is coming just because she changed the clocks!  Didn't she watch the forecast for this week?"

That last one didn't amount to much for us either (Titan?). Cute post of the birdie chatter. xo

Think it is even going to hit us way down here, too. And I was going to buy tomato plants today. Maybe not! Your bird photos and discussion are superb. Linda@Wetcreek Blog

Weather is very iffy this time of year, but I feel like spring is here in the Ozarks! It was 80 yesterday; 50 today and very windy.

Not dancing yet, but gathering seeds and organizing garden things.

Yep, that's exactly what I think every time we get a nice spell in the weather temp. Then it hits us again!!!! Grrrrrrr.

Maybe if you keep dancing the storms will keep missing you! :)

how cute this is. There will be no happy dance here since the wind is blowing, the snow is flying and the snow plows are filling in the end of my driveway

Love the dancing and "I heard it through the grapevine" conversation. A fun read.

I'll be dancing like a fool when spring finally gets here, too.
