Carbs That Hit the Spot

Taking the pieces of fried dough out of the oil and placing them on toweling to drain, the Pres continued to stack the "done to perfection" pieces.

Salivating as I stirred the sauce, I took a piece of fried dough and ate it...just plain!

Mouthwateringly delicious, the sauce came to a slow boil.  Carefully we placed heaping spoons of homemade meat sauce on a piece of golden fried dough topping it with parmesan.

Slowly the stack began to disappear...one by one...but not entirely!  There was more than enough for leftovers.

Yes, fried dough...it really hit the spot!

Can't eat anything fried, like this.

You can, and still not clog your arteries???? Lucky you!

Not me. 5 years ago, I had 3 nearly clogged heart arteries. And they put in 3 stents. So I didn't have a heart attack.

3 nearly clogged arteries. And we had not eaten fried foods, in years.

Gentle hugs,
Tessa~

Me being on a diet right now, I'm finding this very difficult to read without crying. I want some fried dough with meat sauce. (sniff, sniff) :)

It has been years since I had any fried dough--It was one of my favorites at the carnivals when I was growing up, we'd eat them with butter and cinnamon sugar or jam--forget those darn funnel cakes!! It really IS a perfect comfort carb!!!
