And So It Began: The Tradition

Buck Eyes

One stick butter (melted)
2 c creamy peanut butter
2 c Rice Krispies
1 box Confectionery Sugar
1 16 oz bag Chocolate Chips
1/4 cake paraffin wax

Mix melted butter, peanut butter, Rice Krispies and sugar. Using a teaspoon size portion of mixture, roll into balls and dip in melted chocolate. Set on wax paper to cool and harden.

Years ago, when most of the grand kids were young, the Pres' sister hosted an annual cookie swap. Held a few weeks before Christmas, we would all bring our dozens of one variety to swap and share with the other family members. Leaving with a wide variety and dozens of cookies packed neatly in a box, we would head home to savor our treats.

When the cookie swap stopped because several family members moved out of state, I really missed seeing everyone and all the cookies.  So, I began my own tradition, baking all of our kids favorites and delivering bags and boxes to them at Christmas.

And so it began...thanks Nancy, Mom, Mary Ann, Susan, Sue, Carol, Laura and Suzanne!

I don't know anyone that does a cookie exchange any more, but I miss them--Christmas cookies are such fun to make, get and of course eat too!! And what a great tradition you have! But keeping them in your freezer and not eating them, shows your amazing willpower and dedication to your tradition!
