Weekends Are For...

Last Saturday, my son came by to spend the day with us.  Calling earlier in the week, he mentioned that his wife and daughter (at the old age of three) were having "the girls" over so he needed to split.  Thinking of them entertaining "the girls" was adorable and the fact that hanging with my son has always been a pleasure, I prepared a nice pot of Chili and a pan of cornbread.  It was a very blustery day here..perfect for something warm and flavorful.  The Prez, however, had other ideas and unbeknownst to me, had purchased "Red Hots" and large rolls to have them on...man food!

Arriving late morning and spending the entire day with us, he had it all...just like in the old days when he lived home many, many years ago.  In fact, he kept saying that he had my Chili and cornbread or a Red Hot with the Prez since before we moved to Virginia.  Of course, dessert was another story.  He hit the carrot cake.  That was, of course, right
before he headed for home with a cup of Spiced Chai Tea.

He brought back the two 9 x 13 baking pans I'd brought to their house filled with cupcakes, so I figured I could trust him with the stainless steel travel mug.
Remind me to get it back!

This post made me smile. Your mom-kindness reminds me of exactly what my family did this weekend when I went to visit. I hunkered down on the couch and enjoyed being home. Mom and Dad make it home with their awesomeness. I missed out on the pot of chili and carrot cake (YUM!), but we shared wonderful coffee and laughed at funny stories. These are moments that seeing beautiful comes shining through!

Happy seeing beautiful!

How fun and so glad you got to spend time with your son...Your meal of chili and cornbread sounds yummy on a day like today; chilly and rainy!

Wow, your son returns things? How do you get him to do that? I need to know your secret....lol

I need to get him to teach our daughter to return things. She has at least half of my storage containers and I've warned her, repeatedly, that thinking about touching my stainless steel travel mug will get her fingers broke. We have plenty of plastic travel mugs for her to choose from.
