Now that we're into the month of January, so many of us are posting pictures of snow, snow covered houses, icicles and other winter wonders that I thought I'd be different. Yep, I thought I'd share with you some sunshine!! No, not just my personality...I mean real honest to goodness sunshine!!
So, for the next few Saturdays, the "My Life" series will hopefully entertain you with a few pictures and stories from a trip to Punta Cana that I took with my daughter five years ago. All I can tell you is, that you haven't lived until you've been on vacation with Jennifer and I!
Well, lets start at the beginning. I had retired in the summer and by September, my daughter had me totally convinced me that I deserved a trip to "somewhere special". Since she's a wiz on the computer booking trips and finding the best deals, it was no surprise that she called me that day to tell me about the trip we were about to embark upon.
"Get your passport ready, Mom," she said with a giggle and a grin in her voice. "We're leaving on Wednesday. You'll have to drive up to Connecticut, stay at my house overnight. We board the plane in New York on the morning of September 21st and we'll arrive at the hotel that afternoon." She went on and on. "Mom, it's such a great deal...five days, all inclusive, including our airfare!" The last thing I remember hearing was, "you'd better start packing."
And so it was. I was off on another road trip heading to Connecticut on Tuesday the 20th. I would stay at my daughter's and we would drive to the airport in the morning, leaving her car in airport parking for the five days.
I was nervous. No. Scared was more like it! I'm a "hick from the sticks" and this worldly traveler thing was just a little too much for me. However, I had my daughter with me who is really pretty savvy, if you know what I mean. She'd get me through it...and did she ever!!!...:)
