Something New

Every once in a while, you have to buy yourself something.  I mean, you deserve it, right?  Well, after getting some very valued input from Texwisgirl (thanks, "T"!!!), I decided to buy myself something new!  I bought myself this cool bird feeder.  Isn't it great?  It was delivered right before Christmas and I wanted to fill it immediately so my fine feathered friends could get used to it quickly!

I took a few pictures this morning and let me tell you, I'm apparently not the only one who likes it!

I had to take these from inside the mudroom, because my fingers were simply freezing as I stood outside waiting for my fine feathered friends to arrive!

Look at that little rascal coming in for a landing.  Isn't he just darling?
He's thinking, "there's an open runway...nothing waiting to take off there."
(I couldn't help that comment.  I just finished watching the news and they were talking about all those folks stranded at the airports for days!)

Look at all those little passage ways that they can scoot right into.  Of course, all my "LBJ's" (that stands for "little brown jobs"),who are really  American Gold Finches in their winter guise, have just monopolized it.

I try to keep the feeders full and put suet out as well, because I don't know how those little critters keep warm.  It's been so darn windy and cold here lately!  A thaw is supposed to happen this weekend which I am anxiously awaiting that so the "kids" and I can walk the mountain.  I'm really missing that a lot...:)

Love it! I bought myself a new feeder before Christmas and received a couple more from family. I'm in hog, I mean birdy, heaven.

Texwisgirl is a love -- and she knows her birdy stuff! :)

Oh I LOVE that feeder... That is the coolest one I have ever seen...Congratulations~! A girl has to do what a girl has to do especially when they have a hubby that doesn't believe in giving gifts..mine does not... So once a year at Christmas time I buy myself something and tell him "Thanks"...
We are having a melt down here in Iowa..I can see the grass.. It's very foggy and raining.. Looks like bad weather is coming our way from the west So it won't be long and the grass will be covered back up.. There is 10 plus inches out there so there is a lot of snow to melt.
Have a great day~! ta ta for now from Iowa..
going to be 45 degrees tomorrow...then 11 on Sat..

Oh I'm so glad you got one and everyone loves it! They look happy at your place, for sure! I haven't put out suet here - we don't get snow very often and these days it's been in the 60s again for a while, I don't think they really need the extra fat. And I think my dogs would just sit under the birdfeeder tree all day... :)

I do love that feeder. Might have to order one for myself...

I think that is wonderful - so much enjoyment looking at the birds and then get feed too.

That's a cool looking bird feeder you got JP! I have 2 big metal barn style ones outside right now that hold 2 things of suet each and one glass one. I started out with the glass one. I had so many birds I had to get another one. They told their friends that there is a party going on at my house so I had to buy another one! lol I go through the bird seed like crazy in the Winter.
