Be Thankful For...

My buddy, Lisa over at Two Bears & Three Cubs Farm hosts Memory Lane Fridays and her theme for today is quite simple:  A Memory You Are Thankful For.  That sounds SOOOO simple, doesn't it?

So, if it's so simple, why can't I think of just one?  I tried...I really did, but I couldn't.  However, several thoughts came to mind that need to be said.  First of all, why does everyone wait until November to profess what they are thankful for?  The thought process belongs on our Daily Things to Do List!  I know what "thankful" means to me, however, I wanted additional support so I went to a reliable source (Webster) for the definition of "thankful".  This is what I found:

"thank·ful

adj \หˆthaล‹k-fษ™l\

Definition of THANKFUL

1: conscious of benefit received thankful>

2: expressive of thanks <thankful service>

3: well pleased : glad thankful that it didn't rain>

thank·ful·ness noun

Examples of THANKFUL

  1. Everyone was thankful to hear the good news.
  2. thankful that someone else was footing the bill for the lavish wedding banquet>

First Known Use of THANKFUL

before 12th century

Related to THANKFUL

I do know that they are so many people, places and things that I am thankful for.  Hopefully, they know WHO they are.  I also feel that "saying it" and/or  "showing it" is the least I can do.  That's my reward and more than enough for me!  For that, too, I am grateful.  I am thankful for God, my Country and my freedom.  After all, if I didn't have a heart filled with gratitude, what would be the point of being here?

Your conclusion after reading this is hopefully THAT I AM THANKFUL FOR EVERYONE & EVERYTHING THAT HAS MADE ME WHO I AM TODAY...:)

Well, I'm thankful for good neighbors (and we won't speak of The Other Neighbors). :-)

I saw your list and am amazed. How big is your family??I used to make a lot, but you beat me by a mile!
I always do mine at Christmas.

I am going to make what I call homemade Reeces, which may be your peanut butter balls. I do a peanut butter fondant and dip in a chocolate coating. I think I will make this over Thanksgiving so the grands can take it home with them........if any is left.

I am grateful every day for the life I live. We are blessed with good health (now) and are living on the farm I used to look over our fence at and think living there would be the ultimate and here we are! We are blessed with wonderful children and grandchildren . What else is there.......

My simple perspective is if we are warm, have food, are healthy, we should never complain.

I just love words! My favorite ones out of the definition list above are "chuffed" and "gladsome". I love "gladsome". I am often gladsome. I like that new word. So THANK you for sharing. :)

I'm thankful everyday~~~that's why in Websters dictionary there is the word "Thanks"..
I think we are thankful everyday because we say "Thanks" a lot.. But at Thanksgiving it just cements everything with the bounty of blessings we have received from not only God but from our friends, family and people we don't even know. Thanks is a word that should make people feel good.. Have a great Thanksgiving and a super day~!~! ta ta for now from Iowa annieptigger@aol.com

You are so right about being thankful every day!

I love the Marcel Proust quote you used, by the way. :)
