"Rat-tat-tat" said the woodpecker, this morning when the kids (Moon & Copper) and I walked. As we headed down the gravel road, Moon & Copper sniffing vigorously as usual. Sun shining, a little breeze and as we rounded the corner about 3/10 of mile from our driveway, we saw them.
There they were...the loggers with their equipment at the base of the mountain. I do understand the whole concept of "Forest Management"...the cutting, and how it promotes new growth, etc. However, in my heart, it reminded me of the tribe living on Pandora in the movie "Avatar". Well, I felt as if they were cutting down my forest...especially when, at the top of the ridge, I saw a doe...just standing. Standing and looking and watching. It broke my heart...:(
